Second Shabbat Evening Service with Rabbis Linda Motzkin and Jonathan Rubenstein

Friday, February 10, 2023 19 Sh'vat 5783

6:30 PM - 8:00 PMRubin Family Sanctuary & Virtually
It’s going to be another fun Shabbat at Kol Ami! Everyone is invited (with a special invite extended to those celebrating a birthday or anniversary in February) to join the Adult Choir and special guests, Rabbi Linda Motzkin and Rabbi Jonathan Rubenstein, for Second Shabbat. Rabbis Linda and Jonathan will introduce us to our Bread & Torah weekend. After the service, we will enjoy challah made during the Friday afternoon Baking Workshop at the oneg.

In the Mishna, Pirkei Avot 3:17, we learn that without bread (literally “flour”), there is no Torah; without Torah there is no bread. Interested in learning more but can’t make this event? Join Rabbis Linda and Jonathan at one of the other activities during our scholar-in-residence weekend.
  • Friday afternoon, jumpstart your Shabbat at 1pm for Baking: Shabbat, Tzedakah, & You
  • Saturday morning, Rabbi Jonathan will deliver a d’var Torah on the week’s portion, Yitro.
  • Following Shabbat morning services, join us for a kiddush lunch and discussion on Creating Worlds with Words.
  • Welcome the new week with Havdalah followed by breakout sessions on Sacred Sewing & Baking Biblically.
  • On Sunday morning the Rabbis will engage our religious school students in learning how a Torah scroll is made, proofreading panels of the Torah, and making bagels! The Sunday morning opportunities are only open to current Religious School students. If you are interested in the Kol Ami Religious School, contact Rina at educationdir@katucson.org.

This weekend would not be possible without the generous support of the Mitch Dorson Scholar-in-Residence fund under the leadership of Jim Whitehill.
