The Rabbi Albert T. Bilgray Lectureship

Rabbi Albert T. Bilgray served as the rabbi of Temple Emanu-El from 1947-1972, and as emeritus rabbi thereafter. In the course of more than a quarter century, Professor Bilgray created and helped develop three programs at the University: Hebrew Language and Literature, Religious Studies, and Judaic Studies. He started the lectureship to benefit both Temple Emanu-El and the Judaic Studies program.

The Lectureship seeks to perpetuate the rabbinic and scholarly emphases of Rabbi Bilgray's career through a popular presentation on Jewish life and literature, as well as through an academic, scholarly approach.
