There are two ways you can bequeath funds from your life insurance policy to Kol Ami. You can choose to name Kol Ami Synagogue as one of the beneficiaries of your policy. Choosing this option allows you to designate the congregation as one of several beneficiaries. You may specify a precise amount or a percentage of the total death benefit.
Alternatively, you can choose to transfer ownership of your policy to Kol Ami. This may allow you to realize a tax benefit during your lifetime.

Leaving money from your retirement accounts to Kol Ami is a tax-efficient way to make a charitable gift. The process could be as straightforward as updating your beneficiary designation form with your brokerage.
As a qualified charitable organization, Kol Ami would not pay income tax on distributions from a planned gift of this nature. This means 100% of your gift goes to Kol Ami, which is more tax-efficient than leaving taxable retirement assets to individual heirs who would have to pay income tax on withdrawals.
Please consult your tax advisor or wealth management professional for more information.

Bequeathing property, such as real estate, to Kol Ami can be a great way to leave a transformational gift from your estate. From a legal perspective, these can sometimes be complex gifts to transfer, so we ask that you include us as early as possible in the planning process. That will help us make sure we can receive and best put to use the valuable assets, such as artwork, homes or land, vehicles, or jewelry that you intend to bequeath to Kol Ami.

A common way to leave a legacy gift to Kol Ami is through your will or other estate planning documents. A testamentary gift, left to the congregation in your will or revocable trust, helps to ensure that your vision for Kol Ami and Tucson’s Jewish community extends far into the future.
You can choose to bequeath to us a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, the remainder of your estate after primary beneficiaries’ bequests, specific assets, or more. Please contact our Director of Philanthropy to discuss the ways you can include Kol Ami in your lasting legacy.
